How to sell

Bolli&Romiti is pleased to provide written valuations for insurance purposes, inheritance divisions, private sales, or other needs.
Fees may vary depending on the quality and nature of the items, as well as the amount of work required to prepare the inventory, but will always remain highly competitive.

Valuation of assets

Our experts are available to provide free valuations of individual lots or entire collections for auction.
A preliminary valuation can be made based on photographs accompanied by all relevant information about the item.
If necessary, an on-site valuation can be arranged.

Reserve price

Subsequently, a reserve price will be agreed upon between the seller and Bolli&Romiti.
This is the minimum amount below which the lot cannot be sold. The reserve price is strictly confidential; it may be lower than, equal to, or higher than the estimate published in the catalogue and will be protected during the auction by the auctioneer through appropriate bidding increments.
If the reserve price is not met, the lot will remain unsold.

Consignment agreement – Auction fees – Artist’s resale right

On the hammer price, the auction house will retain a 17% commission as an auction fee, which includes VAT as required by current legislation, insurance, marketing (including catalogue illustrations), website listing, and registration fees.
The cost of transporting the items, both for the sale and any possible return, will be borne by the seller, as well as any customs duties for the import or export of the lots, if applicable.

At the time of delivery of the lots, the auction house will issue a deposit receipt with the descriptions of the items and the agreed reserve prices.
Subsequently, the seller will receive a consignment agreement outlining the contractual terms, reserve prices, and any additional costs borne by the seller.
Before the start of the pre-auction exhibition, Bolli&Romiti will provide the seller with a copy of the catalogue featuring the consigned items.

With Legislative Decree No. 118 of February 13, 2006, the “Artist’s Resale Right” (Droit de Suite) has been in force in Italy since April 9, 2006. This right entitles the author (living or deceased for less than 70 years) of original works of visual art and manuscripts to receive a percentage of the sale price of their works during resales subsequent to the first.
This fee is payable by the seller and is calculated on hammer prices equal to or exceeding €3,000.00. In any case, the resale right cannot exceed €12,500.00 per lot.

The amount payable is calculated as follows:

4% for the portion of the sale price up to €50,000.00

3% for the portion of the sale price between €50,000.01 and €200,000.00

1% for the portion between €200,000.01 and €350,000.00

0.50% for the portion between €350,000.01 and €500,000.00

0.25% for the portion exceeding €500,000.00

The resale right charged to the seller will be paid by the auction house to SIAE, in accordance with legal requirements.

Post sale duties

After the sale, Bolli&Romiti will send the seller a provisional statement listing all the lots consigned by them along with the corresponding hammer prices.

Payments

Twenty working days after the end of the auction, the seller will receive payment for the sold items, net of auction fees, provided that the lots have been duly paid for by the respective buyer and no claims or disputes regarding the awarded items have arisen.
In the event of non-payment by the buyer, the items will remain in storage at Bolli&Romiti’s premises until the sale is finalized or the items are returned to the seller.

Payment can be made via:
· Cash (up to €1,000.00)
· Bank or cashier’s cheque
· Bank transfer

At the time of payment, Bolli&Romiti will issue an invoice detailing the hammer prices, commissions, and any additional expenses.

Unsold lots

Unsold lots must be collected by the seller, at their own expense and responsibility, within ten days from the date of the auction.
After this deadline, Bolli&Romiti will no longer be responsible for the safekeeping of unsold items or for any potential deterioration or damage. The items will be held at the seller’s risk and responsibility, and the following storage fees will be charged as an indication:

Furniture and sculptures: €15.00 per day + VAT

Paintings: €10.00 per day + VAT

Objects: €5.00 per day + VAT

At the management’s discretion, and upon notice to the seller, the items may be transferred to the Itaca Transport warehouse, located at Via Rocca di Cave 31, Rome. The same storage fees will apply, with the addition of transport costs.

These rates are displayed and available for consultation at Bolli&Romiti’s premises.
