Catalogue descriptions are likewise based solely on the opinion of our experts, and it is the buyer’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of the correspondence between the item offered at auction and its catalogue description.
No claims will be accepted regarding restorations, defects, or errors in the catalogue descriptions.
As for mechanical and electrical items (e.g., clocks, mantel clocks, wristwatches, lamps, automata, etc.), Bolli&Romiti considers them primarily decorative objects. Therefore, their functionality is not guaranteed, and a professional inspection of the mechanical or electrical system is strongly recommended.
Each auction is preceded by an exhibition, allowing the public to carefully examine and inspect each lot for sale.
The purpose is to verify all aspects of the items, such as authenticity, condition, materials, provenance, and consistency with the catalogue description.
All items in the auction are described in the corresponding catalogue, which is available both in printed form and in digital format on the Bolli&Romiti website, and most of them are accompanied by photographs.
It provides general information about the item and represents solely the opinion of our experts.
These represent the valuation assigned to each lot by our experts.
Statements regarding the author, attribution, origin, period, provenance, and condition of the lots listed in the catalogue should be considered the personal opinion of the experts and scholars consulted, and not established facts.

Workshop of Leonardo: In our opinion, the work is by an unknown painter from the artist’s workshop, possibly executed under his supervision.
Circle of Leonardo: In our opinion, the work is by a known or unknown painter associated with the artist, not necessarily a pupil.
Style of / Follower of Leonardo: In our opinion, the work is by a contemporary or near-contemporary painter working in the artist’s style, though not necessarily connected to him.
Manner of Leonardo: In our opinion, the work was executed in the style of the artist, but at a later date.
After Leonardo: In our opinion, the work is a copy of a painting by the artist.
In the style of…: In our opinion, the work is in the mentioned style, but of a later date.
Signed / Dated / Inscribed: In our opinion, the signature and/or date and/or inscription are by the hand of the artist.
Bearing signature / date / inscription: In our opinion, the signature and/or date and/or inscription have been added.
Ancient elements: Furniture or objects assembled later using elements or materials from earlier periods.
Restorations: Antique or used items are often subject to restorations, integrations, and/or replacements. This indication will only be stated when, in the opinion of the auction house experts, such interventions are well above average and compromise, at least in part, the integrity of the item.
Defects: The item shows visible and evident damage, breakage, or wear.
M.O. (Highest Bidder): This acronym is assigned to lots of minimal antique value, generally starting at €50.00.
Upon Request: Refers to high-value items. To know the estimate price, please contact the management.
